Fort Davis, Virginia

Dear Father,
Yours of the 18th came to hand in due season. I am very glad you are all so well as I am enjoying the same blessing.
We are expecting to move at any time so I thought I would have to write you a short letter. As we got paid today, I sent $50.00 to Newark and as I do not wish to carry the cheque along with me, I shall send the short letter. Give my love to all. Please draw this more Mary and you will oblige.
Your obedient son, — C. Van Houten
I will write again.
